Inazuma Eleven Ares scores prime slot with Disney XD

Disney’s investment in international animation continues, this time as Disney XD picks up the broadcast rights to Level-5 abby’s rebooted Inazuma Eleven Ares, a football focused series that pits good against evil.

The new series will make its US debut on Aril 13th, and is billed as a series that will “appeal beyond anime and sports fans,” as it follows the adventures of a humble football team battle through a series of ‘action-packed, yet heart-wrenching’ matches.

Yukari Hayakawa, chief operating officer, LEVEL-5 abby Inc, said: “With the over-the-top action also comes a lot of heart. It perfectly sits on Disney XD where we’ve seen success with the Kids six to 11 audience for Yo-Kai-Watch. As a beloved franchise around the world, we’re excited to finally bring this property to the US audience.”

The Lightning Eleven – better known as the Inazuma Eleven – is a group of legendary players seen to be as fast as lighting and as powerful as thunder. The first season follows eleven individuals of a small island soccer club faced with disbandment as they decide to leave their home and chase their dreams.

Over the series, each must come together as a team to overcome the many challenges they face on their journey to become legends.
