Ink Alc has acquired the licensing rights for the first Middle-Eastern-funded animated film, Bilal.
The licensing agency is already targeting a number of categories for the Bilal licensing campaign, including posters, calendars, stationery, apparel, giftware and accessories.
Bilal will be the first feature-length film produced by the animation division of Dubai-based Barajoun Entertainment.
Based on the true story of an African hero who went through slavery and oppression to become a noble leader, the animated feature is inspired by the real events of 1,400 years ago.
The film stars Jacob O’Neal Latimore Jr as Bilal, Adewale Akinnouye-Agbake as the adult Bilal and IanMcShane as Umayya. Bilal is expected to reach cinemas worldwide by the end of 2015.
“For the first Middle Eastern-funded and produced animated film Barajoun has chosen an exciting and moving story that will thrill kids and parents alike,” said Fayez Weiss Al Sabbagh, chairman of Ink Alc.
“We are expecting strong demand for licensed product related to Bilal and are already planning an extensive campaign across multiple licensing categories.”
Ink Alc combines the forces of Dubai-based media development firm Global New Age Media with Ink group, the leading solution provider in entertainment brand building headquartered in Copenhagen.
