Former Cartoon Network and BBC exec brings over 18 years of domestic and international experience to firm.

Jason Rice joins SEGA as director of brand licensing

SEGA Europe has appointed Jason Rice as director of brand licensing.

Rice brings over 18 years domestic and international experience in licensing to SEGA and will report directly to President and COO Jurgen Post.

He joins the firm from Turner Broadcasting Systems where he was licensing director for Cartoon Network, and more recently was responsible for the company’s EMEA toys and games strategy.

Prior to that, Rice spent over seven years at BBC working on major deals across pre-school, kids and family brands including Teletubbies, In The Night Garden, Doctor Who and Top Gear.

“I’m delighted to welcome Jason to SEGA,” said Jurgen Post, COO and president of SEGA Europe. “Over the last couple of years, we’ve heavily invested in the growth of our now extensive licensing portfolio, resulting in a fantastic range. Jason brings with him a wealth of experience with top brands and is perfectly placed to further develop and expand on our strategy and licensing offering.”

Rice added: “SEGA is a fantastic brand with some inspirational IP. There are some incredible opportunities to explore with some strong partnerships with key licensees already in place. It’s a great time to be here at SEGA.”
