JELC appointed to expand design brand I Like Birds

Global licensing group, JELC, has been named the exclusive licensing agent worldwide for design brand I Like Birds.

Artists and company co-founders Stuart Cox and Alison Blair, take the concept of bird-themed greeting cards and gifts and turn it into something more unique, which helped the brand secure itself as a finalist in the annual BLE competition, License This!

During the competition, Jane Evans from JELC, was on the panel and was struck by the potential of the brand.

Jane Evans from JELC, added: “Stuart and Alison have already made vast strides with very modest resources. We believe I Like Birds has the originality, quality and commercial potential to take it to a whole new level and we very much want to be part of that process.”

As part of the deal, JELC will work closely with Cox and Blair to produce artwork across many more categories, in the UK and internationally.

Stuart Cox commented: “Thanks to License This! and Jane Evans we have the chance to bring something we love doing to a wider audience than we dreamed possible.

“We’re amazed and delighted to have gained the support and guidance of a respected name like JELC."

I Like Birds is also a member of the Greeting Card Association and The Giftware Association, boasting sales in a range of independent retailers and Paperchase.

Sarah Ward, chief executive of The Giftware Association, said: ”It is exciting to hear that I Like Birds is expanding into licensing. I would urge our gift companies to take a look at their portfolio and take the time to meet with them as I truly believe a great business partnership could be formed.”
