The Company

Rainbow Designs Ltd, the Home of Classic Characters specialise in the production, marketing and distribution of children’s character soft toys and baby infant products. We have developed a reputation as licensing specialists with evergreen properties such as Peter Rabbit, Paddington, Very Hungry Caterpillar, Guess How Much I Love You, Disney and Peppa Pig. We love what we do and take great pride and joy in making and delivering high quality products, collaborating with our retailing partners on special projects and generally bring joy to children and parents alike.

The Role

We are seeking a talented, passionate, self- motivated and detail orientated Product Manager to join our team.

As Product Manager you will manage and coordinate the Company Range plan. Work with the sales & marketing teams, generating product requirements and agreeing briefs, determining specifications, production timetables, pricing and time integrated plans for product introductions in line with Company brand plans and strategy.

Reporting to the Head of Product Development and Creative Services, you will co-ordinate the smooth running of New Product development from design concept to delivery into the business and into the market while ensuring the business’s commercial, brand and safety requirements are achieved. Main role responsibilities will be:

1. Range Planning with the Product Development, Marketing & Sales team

2. Managing & coordinating the New Product Introduction (NPI) process throughout the business

3. Creating briefs for In house or external designers

4. Supplier/ Factory Liaison, involving travel to suppliers in the Far East, as required.

5. Understanding the costing and safety requirements of our products

6. Critical pathing:

a. Regular communication with suppliers to ensure calendar deadlines for required information such as prices, product specs, testing are met and product detail is as agreed.

b. Regular communication with Rainbow to ensure critical path dates are made visible and that any slippages are understood.

Working within a close team you would need to be calm under pressure, enthusiastic about product while having a really keen eye for detail, being a creative and innovative ideas person while understanding and appreciating the commercial context

Skills and Qualifications needed:

Product Management, Understanding of the consumer, at least 2 to 3 years relevant experience in a related role within a related industry, (Nursery, Toys, Gifts or Apparel).
