Universal’s Jurassic World has roared to the biggest debut of the year at the UK box office.
Screen reports that the latest in the Jurassic Park series debuted with £19.35m, passing Avengers: Age of Ultron’s £18.02 opening.
Jurassic World also achieved Universal’s biggest ever UK opening as well as its biggest ever Saturday and Sunday results.
Universal is now the first distributor to open three films over £10m in a calendar year at the UK box office.
The film is also the sixth biggest opening of all time at the UK box office.
In relation to the rest of the franchise, Jurassic World has outgrossed the £18.3m run of Jurassic Park III, looks destined to pass The Lost World: Jurassic Park’s £25.8m result and could very well reach Jurassic Park’s final UK gross of £47.9m.
