Key promotions made at HarperCollins Children’s

HarperCollins Children’s Books is looking to build on its number two spot in children’s publishing, revealing a number of promotions in its senior team.

Rachel Denwood has been promoted to publishing and creative director with increased responsibility across fiction, picture books and properties, and a target of driving the creative development of the publishing.

Denwood will also lead content creation across Editorial and Design.

Recently appointed fiction publishing director, Ruth Alltimes will report to Denwood, along with art director, James Stevens. Nick Lake, also fiction publishing director, will continue to report to Ann-Janine Murtagh, growing his stable of best selling authors.

Associate publisher, Alison Ruane will remain as Murtagh’s deputy with specific responsiblity of leading the commercial, sales and marketing teams. PR director, Geraldine Stroud will continue with responsibility for author care and events.

"We are privileged to publish some of the biggest names writing for children today and their success is down to the passion and commitment of the team," said Murtagh. "We have a growing track record as being the house of home-grown talent, building authors into global brands.

"The retaining, nurturing and attracting of talent to make that happen is key to our ambitious growth plans."

2012 was HarperCollins Children’s Books best year through Bookscan since 2008. Market share grew for the second successive year to 9.6 per cent, profitability increased by eight per cent and digital sales were up 165 per cent YOY.
