At this year’s BLE, King Features focused on the fresh programmes and new style guides for its iconic Popeye, Betty Boop and The Phantom properties.
As the Popeye brand continues to grow via a successful apparel and fashion licensing programme, King Features has debuted a new style guide based upon the classic Popeye arcade game from the 1980s.
With retro gaming remaining such a popular theme, the firm believes now is the ideal time to draw new inspiration from the classic game.
To continue the momentum of the Betty Boop and Chupa Chups brand collaboration, the firm has developed a new design direction for the co-brand, focused on vintage designs, styles and colours. The new designs target several key categories including apparel, accessories, gifts and stationery.
Furthermore, The Phantom celebrates his 80th anniversary as a comic strip in 2016. In celebration, King Features has signed a series of new deals including a commemorative silver coin from Perth Bullion in Australia to launch worldwide in November, and a collectable Pop Vinyl figure from Funko.
