Running Press and Everest join to produce Snow Globe, Light Up castles and a new board game for popular period drama

Knockout Licensing boosts Downton Abbey’s US portfolio

British period drama, Downton Abbey is increasing its grasp on the US market as Knockout Licensing has agreed two new deals for more firms to join its growing portfolio in the territory.

US independent trade publisher Running Press has secured the rights to create and sell Downton Abbey speciality gift items including a snow globe and a light up desktop castle.

The Miniature Edition kits will include mini booklets of quotes and photos from the show. The Light Up Downton Abbey will be available across the US from March this year, while the Downton Abbey Snow Globe will hit retailers from this September.

"We are absolutely thrilled to have Downton Abbey included in our Miniature editions programme as part of our media tie-in licensed kits," said Running Press editor, Jordana Tusman.

"This is a phenomenal brand and we are excited to be part of it."

Elsewhere, Everest has been granted the North American rights for the official Downton Abbey board game.

The Downton Abbey board game was originally created by the UK based game developer Destination Games.

Everest was founded in 1992 and is a toy, game and gift manufacturer and distributor.

Downton Abbey is produced by Carnival Films, part of the NBCUniversal International Television Production.

Brad Wald, chief commercial officer, NBC Universal, said: "We know and appreciate that there is such tremendous interest in Downton Abbey among our US and Canadian fans so choosing the right licensing partner is always important to us.

"Since Running Press and Everest both enjoy strong reputations for quality products, we expect them to be excellent fits for our licensing roster in North America."
