Knockout Licensing to develop product portfolio for Outlander

Sony Pictures Television has appointed Knockout Licensing to manage the licensing activity for its popular romantic fantasy, Outlander.

Starting life as an eight book series, Outlander has sold over 25 million copies worldwide.

Spanning the genres of romance, science fiction, history and adventure, the series has now been adapted for TV, produced for Starz by Tall Ship Productions, Story Mining & supply company and Left Bank Pictures.

“The appetite for licensed product has been growing at a quick pace,” said Tamra Knepfer, co-president of Knockout Licensing.

"We are already working on a number of different licensing deals to satiate the fan-base.”

Together with Knockout Licensing, Sony Pictures Television is now looking for the best partners to support the brand.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the devotion and intensity of Outlander fans, who have been closely following the evolution of the series from the first announcement,” said Chris Van Amburg, senior vice president of marketing for Sony Pictures Television.

Based on Diana Gabaldon’s book series, Outlander follows the story of Claire Randall, a married combat nurse from 1945 who is swept back in time to 1743 where she meets a young Scottish warrior.
