Komixx joins Fantastic Mr Fox animators MacKinnon & Saunders to create new 2D animation studio

Komixx Entertainment, the company behind Channel Five’s Toby’s Travelling Circus, has teamed up with MacKinnon & Saunders to create a new 2D computer animation studio in Manchester.

In partnership with the animators responsible for creating Wes Anderson’s stop motion film Fantastic Mr Fox, the new studio has been named MacKinnon & Saunders Digital.

The new firm is already working on the pre-production of its first TV series and promises to create jobs for over 40 people in the media production sector.

Company director, Peter Saunders, said: "Komixx Entertainment is a rising star in the world of multi-media children’s entertainment and we have been very impressed by their dynamic approach to the development of Children and Family entertainment.

"We enjoyed an excellent relationship working with them on Toby’s Travelling Circus, and we’re delighted to be able to bring our production skills and experience to this exciting new business venture."

Joint CEO and head of film and TV at Komixx Entertainment, Andrew Cole-Bulgin, added: "With such a wealth of talent available in this country and the opportunity that the Government’s new animation and tax credit affords, it was not a difficult decision to approach such a world class studio as MacKinnon & saunders to create this new business."

Komixx now has offices in London, Los Angeles and joint venture partnerships with Random House Group and The Gotham Group in L.A.
