Konami Cross Media has tapped the pop culture specialists Fanattik to develop a unique line of Yu-Gi-Oh! gifts and collectables for the European market.
For almost 20 years, the popular Anime brand has been entertaining and engaging young audiences globally, outside of Asia, through its TV series with over 850 episodes, three feature films, consumer products, the hit mobile game Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links, and the hit Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game.
Now, via its partnership with Fanattik, Konami is taking the video game franchise into gifting and collectables.
“With Fanattik on board, we are very excited to be able to offer a wide range of unique gift collectables to the European market,” said Jennifer Coleman, vice president of licensing and marketing at Konami Cross Media.
“We believe our fans will be impressed with the line-up of products Fanattik will launch later this year. Their passion and understanding of the Yu-Gi-Oh! brand shines through in what they created.”
Fanattik will now be taking a holistic approach with this license, working closely with chosen retailers on exclusive product, and hand in hand with trading card game tournament organisers both in the UK and Europe.
“Yu-Gi-Oh! is a brand with a passionate fan base,” added Anthony Marks, chief Fanattik. “In order to create products that would be appealing, we knew we needed to consult with every level of Yu-Gi-Oh! fandom.
“We met with legions of Yu-Gi-Oh! players, organisers and judges, all of whom have a genuine love for the brand. Their input will help to ensure that we get the products right.”
The pop culture specialist will be supporting the vibrant independent trades where Yu-Gi-Oh! thrives, as well as all levels of European retail from online and mail order to the high street with a spectrum of retail price points and limited edition pieces.
Product will be available in market for Q4 2019 with a range containing jewellery, keyrings, pin badges, coins and more.
