Larkshead Media signs first publishing deal for Alphablocks

Larkshead Media has signed its first publishing deal for client Alphablocks Ltd, with the independent children’s publishing house, Sweet Cherry.

The book ranges for both Numberblocks and Alphablocks are aimed at children up to the age of six and will launch at retail in early Q4 2019.

With its record of developing books for children that provide fun learning, Sweet Cherry will develop Numberblocks and Alphablocks books that celebrate the humour and imagination of the books’ cast of characters.

Working closely with Alphablocks Limited and Larkshead Media, Sweet Cherry will release titles that appeal to fans, their parents, carers, teachers and grandparents.

Numberblocks has been enjoying continuous top-ranking positions on iPlayer. With 90 CGI episodes commissioned to date, the series’ first debuted on CBeebies in 2017 and follows the dynamic adventures of colourful block characters who live in Numberland, helping children to understand how numbers work.

The Alphablocks are twenty-six living letters who fall out of the sky and realise if they hold hands and make a word, it comes magically to life. Both shows are produced by Blue Zoo Productions Ltd, alongside creators Alphablocks Ltd, and broadcast twice daily on CBeebies.

Commenting on the agreement, Clare Piggott, director at Larkshead Media, said: “Sweet Cherry has a real enthusiasm and commitment to bringing these two incredibly popular fun learning brands to life.

"The whole Sweet Cherry team really engaged with both Numberblocks and Alphablocks from the outset, so I know they will produce some wonderfully visual and entertaining books that will be enjoyed by our ever growing fan base.

"There’s a real demand for Numberblocks and Alphablocks product and Sweet Cherry are well placed to capitalise on this given their exceptional distribution capabilities. We’re really looking forward to sharing their initial range of product in the coming months.”

Sweet Cherry’s managing director, Abdul Thadha, added: “We are excited to be working with Larkshead Media and Joe on a range of new books which will translate the Alphablocks and Numberblocks core values from screen to print.

"As an innovative children’s publisher, I’m confident the team here at Sweet Cherry will be able to pave the way in creating exciting new book formats with rich content across both of these delightful pre-school series.”
