Las Vegas Licensing Expo 2016 celebrates ‘biggest show to date’

Licensing Expo 2016 is celebrating its biggest year to date having seen a 31per cent rise in new exhibitor attending the Las Vegas event.

A total of 489 exhibitors flooded the halls of the Mandalay Bay Hotel on the Las Vegas strip this June to take part in one of the world’s largest gatherings of licensing executives and companies from around the world.

Over 16,000 attendees headed to the show, while a massive 2,569 meetings were booked through the show’s new Matchmaking Service, helping make what the show’s organisers have billed as its ‘biggest show yet.’

The US and the UK placed first and second respectively in the list of top ten visiting countries, while the show saw an influx of Mexican and Chinese attendees.

30 per cent of this year’s show attendees in fact was made up of visitors from 67 different countries, placing Licensing Expo firmly n the global scale.

The apparel and accessories category took a lion’s share of attendee and exhibitor numbers with 42 per cent, followed by toys and games at 38 per cent at the event that saw some of the world’s leading brands including Cartoon Network, Mattel, Hasbro, DreamWorkds and more attend.

‘The 36th year of Licensing Expo welcomed an increase in international attendees, our largest show floor to date and a successful new Matchmaking Service that helped connect exhibitors and attendees through an incredible 2,569 meetings,’ read a statement from the show’s organisers, UBM.

Next year’s Licensing Expo will take place from May 23rd to 25th at the Mandalay Bay Convention Centre, Las Vegas.
