Licences play major part in Dream Toys 2013 listing

Angry Birds, Doc McStuffins, One Direction and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are just some of the licences which have been named in the Dream Toys 2013 listing this morning.

Introduced this year, the new ‘The Name’s the Game’ category highlights the strength of the sector and the increasing use of innovation and technology to spark the imagination.

According to the NPD Group, licences account for 26.4 per cent of all toy sales (YTD October 12th, 2013).

The toys listed in ‘The Name’s the Game’ are:

Angry Birds Go! Telepods Pig Rock Raceway – Hasbro

Doc McStuffins Doctor’s Bag Set – Flair

Monsters University Sulley Monster Mask – Spin Master

One Direction dolls – Vivid

Power Rangers Megaforce Deluxe Gosei Morpher – Bandai UK

Star Wars Anakin to Vader Figure – Hasbro

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Pop-Up Pizza Play-set – Flair

Transformers Beast Hunters Predaking – Hasbro

Walking with Dinosaurs Gorgon Stomping Feet – Vivid

"Licensed toys will always have a significant role within the Dream Toys list as they are always highly popular," said Gary Grant, chair of the Dream Toys committee. "It’s great to see One Direction taking on Walking with Dinosaurs, although I’m guessing they might be aimed at different audiences.

"The innovation and creativity within this sector is particularly strong this year and great to see."

Dream Toys is the annual event hosted by the Toy Retailers Association where the top 50 toys that will dominate Christmas are unveiled.
