Licensing programme steps up a gear for the home of Downton Abbey

Highclere Castle – the home of the Lord and Lady of Carnarvon and the fictional Crawley family in Downton Abbey – is moving further into the licensing industry.

LMI has secured a deal between Highclere Enterprises and Gascoigne Designs Upholstery Manufacturing.

The agreement will see Gascoigne Designs developing a range of reproduction furniture based on key pieces found within the Castle, as well as a range of originally designed ‘inspired by’ furniture encapsulating the unique styles, periods and architectural elements of the building.

The licensing initiative is being actively supported by Lord and Lady Carnarvon, who commented in a statement: "Lord and Lady Carnarvon are delighted to be associated with Gascoigne Designs who have a strong reputation in the design of high quality upholstered furniture in the UK.

"The Carnarvon family have a long tradition of filling Highclere Castle with beautifully designed but very comfortable and long wearing furniture that makes the large house a home.

"Gascoigne will be taking the ideas and ‘Highclere Style’ into new ranges based upon the feel of the rooms so familiar to many fans of the Downton Abbey TV series filmed at Highclere Castle."
