Felix the Cat Creations has appointed Allsorts Licensing as the agent in the UK and Republic of Ireland for Felix the Cat, Felix 100, Baby Felix, The Professor, Poindexter, Master Cylinder and other Felix the Cat ancillary characters.
Created in the early 1920s - when cartoonist Otto Messmer modeled the character after Charlie Chaplin - Felix the Cat has gone on to be a success in the publishing, film, video game and TV areas, as well as in licensing and merchandising.
A new movie and TV series are currently in the works.
"John [McInnerny] is an excellent and well experienced licensing manager and we are looking forward to working closely together for many years to come," said Don Oriolo, president and CEO of Felix the Cat Creations.
"I have known John for many years and feel exceedingly confident he will make a difference in our UK and Ireland licensing programs," added Walter Calmette, head of business affairs for FTCC.
John McInnerny, boss of Allsorts Licensing, added: "There are very few true classic brands, but Felix the Cat is certainly one of them. We see Felix appealing to a wide demographic in a similar way to other of the classic brands represented by Allsorts. We are very much looking forward to working with Felix the Cat Creations."
