Allsorts Licensing has added to its existing portfolio of brands with traditional publishing title, Where's the Meerkat?

The winner of the Sunday Times Best Seller title in 2012, the book series from Michael O'Mara sells well across the world, notching up sales of over 500,000 copies in the UK alone.

Allsorts is now looking to secure the core areas of plush, games, apps, clothing, accessories and gifts, with a view to launching product at retail in 2014.

Brown Trout is already in place for calendars.

"Our talent for brand expansion of classic comic book characters offers enormous advantages to traditional book publishers," John McInnerny, MD of Allsorts Licensing commented. "It has been a while since we wanted to add to our roster and feel Where's the Meerkat provides Allsorts with a very exciting opportunity and one we believe we can fully utilise our experience gained through licensing of publishing brands."

Lesley O'Mara, MD of Michael O'Mara Books, added: "We've enjoyed tremendous success bringing our Meerkat characters to book shops around the world and are thrilled to be working with Allsorts to expand the reach of these cheeky creatures even further. We look forward to spotting Meetkats all over the place as this relationship bears fruit."
