The largest collection of professional photography in the world will soon be moving into the licensing industry, after Bulldog added the Life library to its portfolio.
The images, many of which have been made famous by Life magazine, include historical shots dating back to the Crimean war, pictures of legends such as the Kennedys, plus photos from outer space and iconic landmarks and personalities such as the Empire State Building and Princess Diana.
A programme is already up and running in the US, with sectors covered including fashion, apparel, homewares and gifting.
"This is a massive signing for us," said Bulldog Licensing's MD, Rob Corney. "Life is the world's most respected source of compelling photojournalism and that opens up a huge range of licensing possibilities. We'll be looking to extend the property over a wide range of categories and already have interest from potential partners across apparel, bags, accessories and publishing.
"This promises to be just the start - greetings, gift, ceramics and homewares also spring to mind, but the potential really is vast. The sky's the limit with this one."
