TV firm Calon has teamed up with the Welsh TV channel S4C to roll out two new books based on the animated pre-school series Hana's Helpline.
The titles are based on the stories from Holi Hana, the Welsh-language version of the series, which is due to kick off series two this autumn. The Welsh books are a co-edition with publisher Random House, which has already published six titles based on the English language version of the show.
The titles are Myrtle: The Turtle Who Was Shy (Y Crwban Fach Swil) and Douglas: The Duck Who Wanted to Swim (Yr Hwyaden Fach Oedd Am Ddysgu Nofio). Both will be priced at £4.99 and will feature illustrations from the TV series, plus Hana's advice on dealing with the problems raised in each book.
The books were officially launched at a children's storytelling event at Borders book store, Cardiff with a guest appearance from Hana and other characters Bert and Francis.
The books are available through the Welsh Books Council which will distribute through a network of retailers and on their website.
"This is a Welsh show and it's important to us that Welsh-speaking children can enjoy Holi Hana in all the ways that children can in other languages," said Robin Lyons, Calon's MD. "We plan to release more books in Welsh, as well as a DVD."
