Horror TV series Penny Dreadful is being resurrected in a new series of comic books courtesy of the leading name in the comic book market, Titan.

Under licence by CBS Consumer Products, the new series will hit shelves in early 2017 and will continue the story directly from the events of Penny Dreadful's season three TV finale.

Taking the helm for the new comic book series will be the TV series' co-executive producer Chris King and illustrator Jesus Hervas in a published adaptation of the series that features classic characters from Victorian gothic literature including Frankenstein's Monster, Mina Harker, Sir malcolm Murray and Vanessa Ives.

Titan's new series will expand upon its previous successful Penny Dreadful series, a prequel publication that explored the events untouched by the TV show.

The comic series will take place six months after the ending of the TV show’s final season. Ethan Chandler (Josh Hartnett) finds himself unable to move on. As he searches desperately for meaning in a world without Vanessa, ancient words echo across the centuries, and he is called on once again to take up arms against the creatures crawling out of the night.

“Like all fans of Penny Dreadful, I am so thrilled that we're returning to the incredible world of the show,” said Penny Dreadful comic editor, Lizzie Kaye.

“There are a lot of stories left to tell, and there is no one better to tell them than Chris King. What he's got planned will just take your breath away, and I can't wait for fans to see it all brought to life by artist Jesús Hérvas."

Titan’s new Penny Dreadful comic series is set to hit stores and digital platforms early 2017. This all-new storyline in the world of the hit TV show will delight hardcore ‘Dreadfuls’ and new fans alike.
