Two execs from licensed textiles and homewares specialist Character World are to take part in the Great North Swim this month for charity.
Lee Burgess and Amy Tonge are looking to raise money for local charity When You Wish Upon a Star by swimming for a mile. The organisation specialises in making dreams come true for children with life threatening illnesses.
The duo will join 9,000 swimmers from across the UK, swimming in water below 15 degrees at depths of 220ft, in the UK's biggest outdoor swimming event.
"We've been training hard for the event as it will be a real challenge and we've never done anything like this before," said Tonge. "It's a great charity and we wanted to highlight the work they do."
Burgess added: "Everyone at Character World has been really supportive and we're aiming to raise £500 for the charity."
