Classic celebrates 40th anniversary of Santa Claus is Comin' to Town

This year marks the 40th anniversary of classic Christmas TV hit, Santa Claus is Comin' to Town, with Classic Media planning a number of promotions.

The first Blu-ray edition of the film - which stars the voice talents of Fred Astaire and Mickey Rooney - will be released as part of a new box set, The Original Christmas Classics Blu-ray edition, as well as on a new DVD single with redesigned packaging.

On top of this, a branded live ice attraction will be opening at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville, Tennessee.

Nestle, Kurt S Adler, American Greetings and Signature Brands have also signed up for Santa Claus is Comin' to Town chocolates, holiday ornaments, greeting cards and popcorn tins respectively. More consumer products plans will be announced shortly.

"Santa Claus is Comin' to Town - with its famous story of how Kris Kringle became Claus - is one of the most popular and longest running holiday specials of all time," said Nicole Blake, EVP of global marketing and consumer products at Classic Media. "We are excited to celebrate the 40th anniversary."
