Coolabi has secured a number of new licensing deals for Bagpuss, the evergreen brand it represents on behalf of Smallfilms and Peter Firmin.

Pigment Productions is on board to create a range of Bagpuss photographic greetings cards for launch in late autumn 2011 launch. The new deal follows on from a successful range of cards the firm created last year for another Smallfilms and Peter Firmin brand, Clangers.

Also in autumn 2011, Powerplay Textiles will be unveiling a range of adult nightwear, underwear and socks. The first ranges are being developed exclusively for Express Gift.

Shreds has also recently signed to produce a range of children’s aprons and bags to be sold exclusively through Past Times stores.

Intelex saw strong sales of its Bagpuss microwaveable plush last Christmas. As a result, the company is due to create a more extensive range for launch in September 2011, including microwaveable slippers, slipper boots and neck warmers.

Finally, Coolabi extended the current illustrated greetings card deal with Museums & Galleries Marketing (MGML). Bagpuss was one of the most popular designs within its spring 2011 Illustrators Range launch, so the firm has will now include new birthday designs for mid-year release.

Bagpuss Christmas cards will also be available for 2011. The ranges feature new designs by Dan Postgate, the son on Oliver Postgate, one of Bagpuss’ original creators.

Anna Hewitt, Coolabi’s head of licensing, commented: “Following the significant increase in demand at retail last year, Bagpuss continues to demonstrate its strength as a key property both with consumers and licensees.

"We are very excited to work with our new and existing partners to launch these new ranges throughout 2011 as we further expand the brand."
