Crayola lipsticks, Honey G merch and cockroaches: the week's licensing industry news in review

It comes as no surprise that the news Warner is releasing TV spots for The LEGO Batman Movie made into this week’s top ten, as LEGO gears up for the release of its upcoming film next month.

It seems most of you are continuing to revel in one of your childhood favourites, Crayola, as this week’s top story has been given to the collaboration between cosmetics company Clinique and Crayola.

Obviously some readers are not content with just drawing on paper with Crayola’s iconic crayons, and are now looking to ply their faces with all sorts of colourful lipsticks, including Brick Red and Mango Tango.

Second place has gone to the news that Nickelodeon is set to develop an animated series based on a video game property, while football fans have clearly been impressed by the news that Inter Milan has teamed with Entertainment One, which secured third place this week.

With plans to develop a line of Inter Milan-inspired merchandise, I’m sure we’ll be seeing many fans decked out in all sorts of goodies in support of the football team.

With Batman set to return to screens as part of the LEGO movie franchise, it’s no surprise that Warner releasing new TV spots for The LEGO Batman Movie has come in at fourth place.

To get Batman fans’ taste buds tingling, the company has decided to launch two new promotional videos featuring the caped crusader. But we will all just have to wait until February to see what The Joker has in store for Gotham’s hero.

A story from back in December has made it into fifth place this week, as some of you have been eager to find out Xilam’s plans to find a new master toy partner for Oggy & the Cockroaches.

And who wouldn’t want to find out more, as the series follows the lazy lifestyle of Oggy the cat and his cockroach roommates (I’m sure we’ve all had a few of them in the past). No doubt you’re all looking back to see if Xilam has secured a partner, but unfortunately no news has been shared with Licensing.biz yet. Once we do, we’ll be sure to update the story.

Next in the line-up came the news from June 2016 surrounding that Five Nights at Freddy’s will be turned into a YA novel series. Considering this story remained popular with you throughout June, July and August, it’s no wonder this news still remains part of Licensing.biz’s top ten.

Elsewhere, Candyking’s new deal with Suited Brands has made it into seventh place, while news that Disney-ABC’s The Batchelor is heading to Snapchat has also caught the attention of some of you, making it into eighth position.

The absence of X Factor on our screens must be getting to some of you, as December’s story revealing that a new line of merchandise from Honey G is on the way was a tantalising story, according to Licensing.biz’s top ten.

Last but not least, no top ten could be complete without some Teletubbies action, and September’s news that a live tour is coming to the UK has certainly piqued the interest of some you.
