EMI will take worldwide charge of Shine's back catalogue of composed music, collecting royalties on behalf of all of the group's subsidiaries including Reveille in the US, Metronome Group, Shine Australia, Shine France and Shine Germany.

Shine, a News Corp company, has TV shows like MasterChef and One Born Every Minute in its portfolio.

The partnership will also see the creation of a "joint venture production music library" where the two will work together to produce new music to be used in Shine and third party shows.

Shine Group president, Alex Mahon, said that EMI’s work in the UK had been the basis for the global deal. He said: "Their expertise, scale and professional approach make them the perfect partners with which to realise the full potential of our owned music on a group level and to build upon our library."

Jonathan Channon, EVP of Media and Business Development at EMI Music Publishing, said: "Extending our deal with Shine enables us to increase the revenue potential for their music assets from a wider range of programming genres across the world. Shine is an incredibly strong business that continues to grow, and we are delighted to be able to partner with them and offer business support to acquire music assets for their wider group of companies.

Speaking about the new production unit, Channon said: "This will be not only an effective internal resource for them but will also in tandem further strengthen the EMI production music offering to our existing clients worldwide."
