Greeting card specialist Woodmansterne has launched a new line of Princess Pearl designs.

The property - created by Emma Thomson and handled by Rocket Licensing - features on a range of general and age specific birthday cards, aimed at girls aged from one to ten.

The cards all show the character and are captioned inside with lines including 'treasure this day forever' and 'have a ball fit for a princess'.

Princess Pearl will appear in a series of five books from Hodder Children's Publishing from spring 2012.

"We have had such a positive reaction from so many of our retailers," said Sarah Britton, publishing manager at Woodmansterne. "It seems they cannot resist the magic of this sparkling range fit for every little birthday princess."

Charlie Donaldson, joint MD at Rocket, added: "Emma Thomson already has an extraordinary reputation for publishing-related licensing success, driven by memorable characters with a powerful appeal to their core audience. That's why we expect Princess Pearl to be just as successful as her illustrious predecessors."

Thomson's best known creations - Felicity Wishes and Fuzzy Teddy - have earned over £150 million at retail in the UK alone.
