Guinness World Records has appointed License India to develop licensing programmes in the territory.

The firm will be looking at categories including stationery, back to school and gifts among others. It is the second appointment that GWR has made this year for international representation rights. In March, the firm hired Exim Licensing to handle all South American territories.

"This is a country that is truly passionate about record breaking," said Beatriz Fernandez, international licensing manager at GWR. "In 2009 we received over 2,000 record claims from India. With License India I believe that we have found a solid partner that can channel this enthusiasm and help us take the necessary steps to realise our vision of the future."

Chitra Johri, head of marketing at License India, added: "We are extremely privileged to work with Guinness World Records by managing their licensing programme in India and extending in multiple logical streams."
