US toymaker Jakks Pacific has been named the master toy licensee for Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood in North America.

It has reached a long-term agreement with the property’s owner, The Fred Rogers Company, to manufacture, distribute and market a range of pre-school toys based on the TV show.

These include plush products, figures, play-sets, vehicles, dolls and accessories, ride-ons, play tents, ball pits, role-play and dress-up toys, seasonal toys, novelty products, children’s furniture and Halloween costumes.

The line targets children aged two to four years old and will launch at US retail from spring 2014.

“Jakks will further the entertaining and value-based lessons of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood with a broad range of fun and engaging playthings for pre-schoolers,” said Jakks Pacific’s SVP of global licensing Stephen Stanley.

The Fred Rogers Company president Bill Isler added: “We’re confident that the new Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood toy line will deliver products and play patterns that will keep children engaged as they help make Daniel an even bigger part of their lives.”

Samantha Freeman Alpert, President of Out of the Blue, the licensing agent and leading production partner forthe program, commented: “We are very excited to join forces with Jakks, which has demonstrated a strong creative vision for Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood.

“Jakks’ upcoming line-up of fresh and original series-inspired toys will help children everywhere connect with Daniel and his friends – as well as the series’ valuable messages – in meaningful and fun ways far beyond the TV screen.”

Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood is an animated programme that follows the adventures of four-year-old Daniel Tiger. He’s the son of the original show’s Daniel Striped Tiger from PBS’ longest-running kids’ series Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.
