King Features partners with Finnish fashion brand Billebeino for new The Phantom collection

King Features and the Finnish fashion brand Billebeino have partnered for a new clothing collection, the Billebeino x Phantom collection.

The unique collaboration was unveiled during the February launch party at Helsinki Casino in Finland, where the line was modelled on a runway.

‘This most recent collaboration demonstrated how King Features has been able to further showcase its dedication to reinventing their classic portfolio of iconic characters, breathing new life into them through products and experiences from fashion to collectables to video games,’ read a statement from the firm.

The Phantom was first introduced in 1936 as the first costumed superhero in a legend that began more than 400 years ago when the survivor of a pirate raid was washed up on a remote beach.

Rescued by the natives of the Bangalla jungle, he swore to dedicate his life to the elimination of evil and vowed that his descendants would carry on the tradition.

“The Phantom is an edgy character with a twist of rock ‘n’ roll,” said Ville Leino, founder of Billebeino.

“He is different to other superheroes, as there is this fascinating mysticism around him. Of course, his long history is impressive too. I am really thrilled about this collaboration and the products.”

Carla Silva, general manager and head of global licensing, King Feautres, added: “We are so excited to have partnered with Billebeino on this fantastic collaboration.
