Metrostar signs as UK licensing agent for Toot the Tiny Tugboat

Toot Enterprises has appointed Metrostar as the UK licensing agent for its new pre-school TV property, Toot the Tiny Tugboat.

Metrostar will be presenting the brand at next week's Brand Licensing Europe and the firm is looking to introduce the brand to categories including toys, apparel, melamine and stationery.

Toot the Tiny Tugboat follows the adventures of Toot and his friends around the harbour where he lives.

It is based on the book Toot and Pop! by Sebastien Braun and has been adapted for television by Lupus Films and writer, Ian Carney, who has also written for Noddy, Octonauts and Shaun the Sheep.

"Toot follows a long tradition of successful boy’s pre-school television properties in a sector we have christened ‘characters with jobs’," saod Claire Potter, Metrostar’s MD.

"He’s a natural companion to Thomas, Bob, Pat and Sam and we look forward to him taking his place alongside these classic brands.”

Channel 5 and S4C acquired UK free-to-air broadcast rights to the 52 x 11 minute episode series and Toot the Tiny Tugboat is due to air on Channel 5’s Milkshake this month.

Thud Interactive are representing the digital rights and Twofour Rights will distribute Toot internationally.
