Stockholm’s children’s museum Junibacken has teamed with Moomin Characters and Bulls Licensing to raise money for the ongoing refugee crisis.

Under the fundraising initiative, the trio will donate this weekend’s ticket proceeds to the Red Cross’ efforts in aiding the refugee situation.

Junibacken and its partners Moomin Characters will together donate all entrance fees, expected to amount to over €30,000.

“It felt very good that Junibacken responded so quickly and positively when we proposed the idea about collection money for the Red Cross,” said Roleff Krakstrom, managing director of Moomin Characters.

“This is the largest humanitarian crisis Europe has seen since the secondWar War. I hope as many as possible want to take part.”

Gustav Melin, licensing director at Bulls Licensing, added: “Our ambition is to, in the spirit of Tove Jansson, help where help is needed.

“Throughout the years we have donated to Unicef, WWF and other help organisations. It felt natural for us to contribute to the Red Cross in this moment of crisis.

“The initiative was welcomed by the staff and management, all deeply affected by the refugee situation.”

This weekend September 19-20th, volunteers from the Red Cross will be present at Junibacken to inform about the drive, and accept donations from those who want to contribute.
