NBC Universal Brand Development Group is making a move for the Indian and South Asian markets with the appointment of Black White Orange.
Under the new agreement, the firm will manage licensing for NBC Universal’s expansive portfolio, including major franchises such as Universal’s Despicable Me, Jurassic World and Fast & Furious.
Black White Orange will also look to develop licensing programmes around upcoming film’s such as The Secret Life of Pets as well as the studio’s catalogue of classics, including Back to the Future and Jaws.
The South Asian and Indian territories present lucrative market places for NBC Universal having seen the latest installment in the Fast & Furious franchise, Furious 7 take the spot as highest grossing Hollywood film ever in India, with Jurassic World ranking second.
As the studio enters the Indian and South Asian markets for the first time, Black White Orange will look to develop authentic licensed merchandise such as apparel, toys, stationery, gifts, novelty, back-to-school, home décor, non traditional categories and more.
The firm will look to grow Universal’s business across India as well as Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and other South Asian markets.

Launched in September 2015, Black White Orange has also signed leading brands including Sesame Street, YouWeCan, The Emoji Company and bCreative.
