The Smiley Company continues to boost its portfolio, signing with German skateboarding firm Fun 4 U for a line of sporting goods.
The range - which is being created to celebrate Smiley's 40th birthday - will include skateboards, longboards, rollerblades, bikes, scooters, helmets and yoyos. All will feature the Smiley original and Smiley Society artwork, which has been especially created for the collection.
"Smiley is building its brand around youth style tribes and we believe skaters are in total tune with our brand philosophy," said Nicolas Loufrani, CEO of The Smiley Company. "Our friends at Fun 4 U share our vision so much that they have decided to make it a new business division.
"The new company Smiley Funwheel is now born and we wish it a great future. It's not just one more licensed skateboard; it's a brand new lifestyle brand."
Panos Hadjinicolaou, director at Fun 4 U, added: "Smiley has always been the missing part to our portfolio and we are extremely excited to welcome the brand to our group."
