Pope Francis boosts Bullseye brand

Social media channels inundated as fans chat about Jim Bowen lookalike.

The new Pope, Pope Francis, has unwittingly helped boost the Bullseye brand.

(Note: I managed to sneak this story past the semi-unconvinced editor of Licensing.biz). 

The team behind the social media channels for legendary TV game show brand Bullseye say they've been inundated with posts and tweets from fans of the programme, discussing the uncanny resemblance between Pope Francis and the popular host of the show, Jim Bowen (scroll down for a comparison image).

News pieces from Huffington Post, The Guardian and Absolute Radio have also discussed the lookalikes.

Bullseye has seen significant traffic across all of its media channels including Facebook, where it already has over 36,000 followers.

Bullseye ran on ITV for 14 years. with a peak audience of over 19.8m viewers. The show remains a staple of the Sky Challenge line-up where it peaks at over 200,000 viewers.

A Bullseye licensing programme is being developed by agency Bulldog across apparel, board games and gift, to add to the already-popular ranges available now.
