Rocket Licensing celebrates early Q Pootle 5 success

Rocket Licensing is celebrating early success for Q Pootle 5, both in terms of viewer figures and licensee reaction.

Q Pootle 5 landed on screens four months ago, and Rocket has already signed five licensees for the brand. These include Immediate Media for slots in CBeebies Weekly and Toybox magazines, Egmont for standalone magazines, Jumbo for games and puzzles, VMC for accessories and Rainbow Productions for character costumes.

Q Pootle 5 is the creation of award-winning writer and illustrator Nick Butterworth.

After Q Pootle 5 and Q Pootle 5 in Space became pre-school publishing hits, Nick Butterworth’s own company developed and produced the television series, which launched in July on CBeebies.

The show has quickly become one of the channel’s highest rated programmes and in 62 episodes has reached over four million people, with one in every five children in the UK watching the show to date.

Q Pootle 5 outperforms the 7.35 am timeslot average by more than 10 per cent for all individuals and 13 per cent of children aged four to six and has had more than 1.2 million views on iPlayer.

Q Pootle 5 but his friends Oopsy, Eddi, Stella, Groobie and Planet Dave are the focus of Rocket’s licensing campaign. The campaign is focused on appropriate licensed products driven by 'the values of fun, friendship and imaginative play that underpin the Q Pootle 5 stories'.

The Q Pootle 5 licensing and marketing campaign is focused on a wide range of categories, but in particular TV tie-in publishing, toys and games, DVDs, apps and ebooks, nightwear and underwear, apparel, accessories, lunchware, bags, creative play and science kits. Consumer PR and promotional events will keep awareness high in the run-up to the first retail launches in spring and autumn 2014.
