Rocket Licensing has added new children's publishing property, Princess Pearl, to its portfolio.

Created by Emma Thomson - who has previously enjoyed success with Felicity Wishes - Princess Pearl will form a key part of Rocket's presence at Brand Licensing Europe later this month, with a greetings card deal aready in place.

The heroine of the series of six storybooks to be published by Hodder Children's Books in autumn 2011, is an ordinary little girl who discovers a new identity in a secret world under the sea.

The official launch was held in Whitstable - the birthplace of the character.

"We are thrilled to be licensing this charming and delightful new characters from one of the top authors and illustrators in her field," said Rob Wijeratna, joint MD at Rocket. "The potential of Princess Pearl at retail is clearly enormous."

Thomson - who has illustrated over 130 books, which have sold over eight million copies and been translated in more than 22 languages - added: "The launch event for Princess Pearl was not just a thoroughly delightful day out by the sea, but the perfect start to what I am sure will be a professional, sympathetic and well executed licensing campaign."
