Rocket snaps up Reservoir Dogs

Company becomes European licensing agent for iconic Tarantino film after deal with Lionsgate UK.

Rocket Licensing has struck a deal with Lionsgate UK to become the European licensing agent for Reservoir Dogs.

The firm has already begun to pitch prospective licensees including apparel, gift and dress up companies. The initial focus will be on males aged 18 and upwards, buying from record retailers, specialist outlets and online.

A comprehensive styleguide is available from Lionsgate, with Rocket being able to work with the characters - such as Mr Pink, Mr White and Mr Blonde - as well as a number of phrases including "let's go to work".

"This is a brand that resonates as much with today's market as it did with its original fans nearly 20 years ago," said Rob Wijeratna, joint MD of Rocket. "The brand has a huge amount to offer licensees, retail and the consumer and we are already discussing some fantastic product concepts."

Guy Avshalom, COO at Lionsgate UK, added: "Popular awareness of Reservoir Dogs and its strength as a brand have, if anything, grown since its release nearly 20 years ago. That's a powerful legacy and one that makes this a property with enormous potential."
