The Smiley Company has joined forces with French retail chain Carrefour, in a deal which will see its emoticon inspired Smiley World brand in its 'Smile, it's back to school/work' in-store promotion.

Carrefour - which boasts over 230 hypermarkets throughout France - will use a host of Smiley World icons to mark out different sections in its stores and car parks as part of the promotion.

The icons will appear on direct mail and in-store catalogues, as well as on the Carrefour website. A major advertising campaign will also be running, including newspapers, billboards and radio.

"I am really proud to partner with such a fabulous retailer and see Smiley World as the centre of a promotion providing happiness to millions of families, once again fulfilling our company mission: making the world a happier place," said Nicolas Loufrani, CEO of The Smiley Company.

Carrefour will also be offering customers a promotional cheque book including 100 Euros worth of offers. The cheques will be illustrated with Smiley icons.
