Best known for the Hello Kitty brand, Sanrio has formed a dedicated global consumer products division to exploit its properties.

Janet Han Hsu will head up the division as president of global consumer products, based in the firm's Los Angeles headquarters. The EMEA market will be handled by Roberto Lanzi. The duo will work together to form strategic alliances, expand the existing international business and establish a consistency in brand messaging worldwide.

Hsu will be responsible for the development and expansion of the division, with a focus on licensing, new products and product categories, as well as exclusive co-branded partnership programmes.

"I am very excited to be part of a company with such extraordinary evergreen brands," Hsu said. "My personal goal is to provide the leadership to further propel the evolution of Sanrio's diverse portfolio of classic characters through innovative licensing programmes, strategic partnerships and unique storytelling."

Before joining Sanrio, Hsu was senior VP of MGA Entertainment, and has also enjoyed stints at Mattel, Bloomingdale's and Lord & Taylor amongst others.
