Think Wow Toys, a division of WowWee Toys USA, has been awarded the master toy licence for Thumb Wrestling Federation: TWF.
The firm has secured rights to a wide range of product including figures, play-sets, vehicles, role play and trading cards. To back the line, it is planning an aggressive TV supported marketing effort which will include regional thumb wrestling competitions and the selection of a national winner to be held in spring 2010.
"I have been a big fan of the series since inception," said Scott Bachrach, head of Think Wow Toys. "Kids have clearly responded to the whacky humour and non-stop action. Our goal is to be able to provide kids with a wide range of fun and inventive toy products that will allow them to stage their own matches just like those they enjoy on TV."
TWF - created by Animation Collective - launched on Cartoon Network US back in November. It has also enjoyed huge success in the UK, where it airs on the BBC and is handled by Bulldog Licensing.
Worldwide licensing agent, Al Ovadia, commented: "The response from kids to the series, as evidenced by the strong ratings, has stimulated a great deal of interest from manufacturers looking for the next, great, break-out licence.
"In addition to those already signed, deals in publishing, posters, school supplies, backpacks, bedding and games are in discussion and expected to close in the coming weeks."
