VEGAS 2010: CBS strikes Showtime deal

Firm to build licensing programmes for Dexter, The Tudors and Californication among others.

CBS Consumer Products has struck a deal with sister company Showtime Networks to represent its properties for merchandise and live events.

Working with the network’s licensing team, CBS Consumer Products will build upon the merchandising programs for shows including Dexter, Weeds, Nurse Jackie, Californication, The Tudors, The Real L Word, Showtime Sports and the upcoming series The Borgias.

“We are excited to support Showtime’s remarkable slate of programming as we continue to license new opportunities for a diverse and rich library,” said Liz Kalodner, executive vice president and general manager of CBS Consumer Products.

“Showtime has cultivated some of today’s most groundbreaking television series, and this partnership taps into the strength of the CBS Consumer Products group, which has a proven track record in reaching consumers with new brand experiences,” added Laura Palmer, Senior Vice President, Distributor Marketing, Showtime Networks Inc.

The Showtime portfolio will augment CBS’s television library which currently includes the NCIS and CSI franchises, Survivor and The Amazing Race, as well as classic television brands such as The Andy Griffith Show, I Love Lucy, The Brady Bunch and Cheers.
