YSL tops Forbes 'dead celeb' list

French fashion designer beats Michael Jackson and Elvis to be world's highest earning dead celeb.

Forbes Magazines has released its annual highest earning dead celebrities listing, with French fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent coming out on top, having earned $350 million.

Saint Laurent died in June 2008 and the bulk of his earnings came from the sale of most of his possessions, including art, furniture and antiques in February.

Second on the list was Rodgers & Hammerstein with $235 million. Michael Jackson was third ($90 million), Elvis Presley fourth ($55 million) and JRR Tolkien fifth ($50 million).

John Lennon ($15m), Dr Seuss ($15m), Albert Einstein ($10m), Jimi Hendrix ($8m) and Andy Warhol ($6m) were also included in the list.
