Creators of popular gaming app sign deal with Sega exclusive rights for property across Japan

Lima Sky and Sega take Doodle Jump to Japan

Mobile game creator, Lima sky has appointed Sega Corporation as its strategic partner for all Doodle Jump licensing and merchandising in Japan.

The deal gives Sega Corporation the exclusive rights to secure agreements with designers, manufacturers and distributors to produce lines of Doodle Jump inspired goods.

First released in 2009, Doodle Jump is an award winning mobile game, and the number three top paid iOS app of all time.

The latest deal with Sega Corporation forms part of Lima Sky’s plans to increase the global reach of the app and bring the property to the app’s Japanese fan base.

Lima Sky chief licensing officer, Eric Karp, said: "Success in the most influential and trend-smart licensing market worldwide requires a partner with the knowledge, relationships and reach to get things done.

"Sega Corporation is one of Japan’s oldest and greatest game makers. More importantly, they know what it means to nurture beloved brands over time, making them the perfect caretakers for Doodle Jump."

The deal also represents a significant direction for Sega Corporation, as Doodle Jump becomes the firm’s first client as a merchandising agent.

However, it is not the first joint endeavour launched by the two gaming companies. A separate division of Sega Corporation already acts as global master amusement toy licensee for Doodle Jump and a third division serves as distributor of Doodle Jump branded arcade machines in Europe.
