Studio has been approached in two territories for attractions based on the hit franchise

Lionsgate in talks for The Hunger Games theme park

With the second movie in the series arriving in the UK later this month, Lionsgate has revealed it is in talks for a theme park or theme park attraction based on The Hunger Games.

During a conference call with analysts, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer stated that the studio has been ‘approached in two territories’ about potential theme park opportunities for The Hunger Games film franchise.

He added that Lionsgate will be pursuing these opportunities, but no information was given on where the theme park will be based and when it looks likely to go into production.

The film franchise looks likely to remain a major box office player until November 2015, when The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 concludes the series.

The Hunger Games grossed over $690 million last year and the sequel, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, lands in cinemas on November 21st.
