Popular pre-school property, Hey Duggee is celebrating a double win at this year’s British Academy Children’s Awards.

The BBC series took home two BAFTAs for Best Pre-School Animation for the second year running, and the Interactive Award for Hey Duggee: We Love Animals app.

BBC’s director of children’s content, Henrietta Hurford-Jones and children’s content executive Liz Randal worked with Studio AKA on the series, while it was Peter Hickman, producer within BBC’s gaming team, who picked up the Interactive BAFTA alongside the app’s developers, Scary Beasties.

Hurford-Jones, said: “We are delighted that Hey Duggee has won best animation for a second year and to get recognition for the app is the icing on the cake.

“Adults and children around the world love the show because it combines learning through play with a gently British sense of humour.”

Hey Duggee now adds the double BAFTA win to its growing awards cabinet, having scooped last year’s International Children’s Emmy.

‘The success is timely as the BBC reaffirms its commitment to investing in UK children’s content and prepares to host next month’s Children’s Global Media Summit,’ read a statement from the BBC team.
