Leading animal charity Battersea Dogs & Cats Home is entering the dog toys sector with a new range of pet products.

A range of dog toys will be available from the end of October in selected Tesco stores, in shops at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home sites and on the Battersea website.

The range of toys have been designed to 'enhance play and bonding between dog and owner' and products include a hide and seek bone, a super squeaky plush toy and a fun flyer.

“Here at Battersea we have over 152 years’ experience of caring for dogs and understanding how to entertain them and enrich their stay with us, so we are delighted to be able to pass on this knowledge to pet owners through our new range of toys, developed with Rupert’s Pet Shop," said Claire Horton, chief executive of Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

"We are thrilled that these products will be available through Tesco, one of the UK’s biggest retailers, enabling shoppers across the country to treat their own pet and support homeless dogs at the same time.”

The products have been developed by experts from Battersea and trialled with Battersea’s own dogs, with all royalties Battersea receives from sales going towards supporting the charity.

Ian Madeley, chairman of Rupert’s Pet Shops said: “We know that dog owners trust and want to support Battersea.

"We have developed an exciting range of products with them that genuinely reflect their core values and from research we know that owners can’t wait to try them all out.

"We are confident that this will become a major new brand in the pet toys and accessories market”.

James Waugh, head pet buyer at Tesco Stores, added: “Tesco is delighted to be the retailer launching these exciting new pet products into the market.

"Customers will know that they are purchasing not only a great toy for their dog but by doing so they will also be helping the dogs in Battersea’s care.”
