The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) has appointed WWRD to produce London 2012 commemorative and souvenir merchandise.

WWRD is the owner of Waterford Crystal, Wedgwood and Royal Doulton. It will be developing a range of ceramic and crystal products for a broad retail market for the Games, including a number of limited edition pieces.

A selection of the ceramic products will be produced in the UK, while selected Waterford Crystal items will be produced in Waterford, Ireland. Products will go on sale later this year.

"It is fantastic to have WWRD on board," said Charlie Wijeratna, London 2012 director of commercial negotiations. "They are iconic brands incorporating the best of British and Irish design and tradition. Their tremendous heritage and quality ceramics and glassware will help ensure exciting London 2012 product ranges, as well as raise funds to help stage the Games."

London 2012 is due to launch its online store this spring.
