The cast of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers are making an appearance in Disney’s newest tech innovation that brings VR to the backseat of your car.

That’s if your car is an Audi. And that all depends on whether you are at CES this week where the limited-run experience is currently being demonstrated.

The car maker Audi is working with Disney Games and Interactive Experiences this week to show off a new VR system that moves with the motion of a moving car as passengers shoot lasers at asteroids and drones and fly through space with Marvel’s Rocket Racoon.

Iron Man also makes an appearance and flies alongside the car as the VR world matches what is happening with the car in the real world. Essentially, if the car takes a turn, so does the rocket ship you are flying in VR.

A demo video of the tech showed passengers collecting points for every pedestrian that crossed the road in front of the car at a stop sign. The real pedestrians were transformed into chicks crossing the road in the VR system.

Audi has also announced a new start up called Holoride that it is investing and building to bring the in-car VR experience like this collaboration with Disney to Audi and other cars.

Could this be the next step in in car entertainment? Reports from the show suggest that the VR experience hasn’t managed to subdue the ‘queezey’ feelings from many VR headsets yet, but it could only be a matter of time before gaming is brought to the backseat.
