Heathrow Terminal 5 London 2012 store opens its doors

Largest dedicated merchandise outlet yet for the Olympics is the first to open at an airport.

With just over 500 days to go, the largest dedicated London 2012 merchandise outlet yet has opened up at Heathrow's Terminal 5.

The new store is the third London 2012 outlet and has a footprint of 2,300m2. It offers a wide range of product from mascot bedding, children's annuals, jewellery, exclusive coins such as £5 from the Royal Mint and collectables from Hornby.

Mascots Wenlock and Mandeville also featuring prominently on the merchandise including soft toys - with the special Beefeater and Queen's Guard toys available - keyrings and posters. The shop will also have an area specifically for Team GB merchandise designed by Stella McCartnery for Adidas.

The shop opening was celebrated with a special in-store screening of the latest instalment of the London 2012 mascot film - Adventures on a Rainbow. The story is written by children's author Michael Morpurgo and follows the mascots as they continue on their sporting adventure across the UK.

The full four-minute film can be seen on the London 2012 website and is also being screened on the London 2012 Live Sites.
